Who We Are   Amy Weiss Designs is a full service interior design firm serving San Diego and the surrounding area. This means that we offer complete services from concept of an interior, (sometimes this means working with the architect and contractor in the beginning design stages if there is new construction or remodeling) to the completion of the job. Amy Weiss-Cornwell began her career as an interior designer after attending California State College at Long Beach in 1975. (Please see resume for more details.) Her love of the beauty of well-designed interiors has kept her on the cutting edge of design during these last 31 years. "Each new project is like creating a jigsaw puzzle and then making sure that all of the pieces fit. I love the challenge and seeing the end result and the happiness that my clients express when the project is completed", says Amy. She also states "I have made many good friends and lasting relationships through my business that I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have if we hadn’t had the pleasure of working together."

Being a sole-proprietorship with a very small staff, mostly just herself, she works with sources and contractors that represent the myriad and diverse areas of putting an interior together. These are businesses that, in most cases, she has worked with for years. And through the process has developed relationships of trust and mutual respect. This is an integral part of the working design process – trust and respect. It is also one that most individuals don’t have because remodeling is not what they do in their everyday lives. Amy works with the sources and makes the selections for flooring, furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, artists, lighting, sound, accessories, plants – (live or silk), paint selection, etc. Then she coordinates with the sub-contractors to get the work fabricated, completed and installed.

As an interior designer she has worked with homebuilders on designing model homes, architects, contractors, individual business owners on offices and lobbies; but, primarily in the last 20 years residential owners on their homes. For many of these clients, the homes are not their primary residences – they may be vacation homes, vacation rentals, yachts or just "other residences". In this case, Amy has done the job start to finish via phone calls, e-mail and only a few occasional meetings and/or visits with the client after the initial design has been approved and the products and/or merchandise ordered. These clients enjoy being able to approve the design concept and then just walk away from the project until they can step into their beautiful new interior and truley enjoy the new ambiance.
